Konopiste Castle
Castle Konopiste
It was founded as a medieval fortress by Tobias of Benešov around 1294th.
The cylindrical towers with a moat and a drawbridge were
built according to the model of French forts.
In 1887 Franz Ferdinand d’Este, successor to the imperial throne, bought the entire castlebought the entire castle,
which the Lobkowicz family had already remodelled in the Baroque style.
The castle is also home to an enormous collection of paintings, weapons, and hunting trophies belonging to Archduke Ferdinand.

Konopiste is located approximately 40 km from Prague.
